How To Change The Aspect Ratio On Your Uverse Box

There are times that your tv screen is too small and the blue HD light is off on your Uverse set top box. You don't need to worry because the aspect ratio on your Uverse receiver is not properly set.  Before changing there are a few things that you need to consider:
1. your tv is an HD TV.
2. You are using either a component cable (pr, pb, y, and audio cables red and white) or an HDMI cord.
3. you are subscribed to Uverse HD technology fee which is $10/month for customers subscribed to ubasic, u200 and u300. HD is part of u450 package.
4. The setting on your TV should match the aspect ratio of your box. (720p or 1080i/p)

Below are the steps on how to change the aspect ratio of your box:
1. Please press the menu button of your remote control and press ok.
2. Use the right arrow to look for options.
3. Scroll down to system options and press ok.
4. Choose aspect ratio and press ok.
5. Press the right arrow to go to the 4 options of the aspect ratio and use the down arrow to choose 720p or 1080i.
6. Use the left arrow to click continue and then press ok.
7. It will give you the option to choose start test or cancel. Choose start test.
8. You are only given aproximately 10-15 seconds to choose the settings. If you are seeing a black screen, that means that your TV does not comply to the requirements I mentioned above. But if you're seeing a picture in the background, press the save settings before the time runs out.

Uverse Standard Remote Control

I just wanna share a picture of the Uverse standard remote control. This will be a reference picture for all other troubleshooting steps that I will be posting for you to have a guide.

Please take note that there are 3 uverse standard black remote control. They are s10-s1, s10-s2 and s10-s3. I heard that the s10-s3 is way much better because any issues such incompatibility and down volume not working issues are rare with this remote control.

I just got my blog updated regarding the black remote control. As I checked the manufacture codes that you can use to manually program the remote control, they are all the same. For those silver remote control users, please wait for my blog about it.

No Picture? Blue Screen? Snowy? No Signal? No TV!

Usually when you are using a universal remote control that came with your tv service provider, we unconsciously change the mode of the remote control and all of a sudden you lose picture. If you have trouble with getting picture such as getting a snowy screen, no signal, blue screen, or no channel in the masterlist, please make sure that your TV is on the right input. For Directv, Uverse or Time Warner subscribers, they usually use a converter box or set top box.  It will be very helpful if you have the manufature remote control. That means that you have to have the remote control that came with your set when you purchased it. For example, if your TV is a Sony TV please make sure that you have the Sony remote control.

Once you have the remote control ready, please take a look at the back of the cable box. Check what type of cords you are using. Take note that if you're using an antenna or coax cable, it should be on channel 3 or 4. for hdmi, should be hdmi, for the RCA (yellow, red and white) should be on video or AV, for the component (red, blue, yellow, red and white or other equivalent color) it should be on component. The type of cord should match the input settings on your TV.

HOW TO CHANGE INPUT USING THE UVERSE REMOTE CONTROL:
If you have already programmed the uverse remote control with your TV set, when you lose picture on your TV you can use it to change inputs.
1. First, you need to press the TV button found on top of the remote control right next to the power button.
2. Press the TV/VIDEO button found on the right hand of the remote control just below the AUX button.
3. Keep pressing it until you find the right input (cable, video or av, comp, rgb, hdmi). You can simply go to 03 if you're using a coax cable to connect your TV set.
4. For Uverse customers, please do not forget to press the AT&T button to prevent any inconvenience.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU CAN'T CHANGE INPUT USING YOUR UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL?
If you cant control the input setting of your TV using your universal remote control and you lost your TV remote control, there is still a way for you to change the input. Your TV should have buttons either on the front or side panel. For older TV's, you will find the buttons on the front panel. If you can't find a TV/VIDEO button then you can use the channel down button to change input. If your TV is HD, on the side panel, you should have either source or input button. Just keep pressing that button till you get the picture back.
