Feels Like Home

I just started working with my new company and the ambiance is very different with my previous one. Not that I wanna bad mouth my previous company but a lot of things are really better with my new one. Let's start from the guards. The guards are friendly. Yes, they are strict but they don't look at you scornfully as if you always do something wrong. They are very helpful and accommodating when you need help. They don't pretend that they are superiors.

The trainers are really kind. Not too stiff. They know how to create a friendly atmosphere in the training room. Though I know more than what the trainers know, for me they are  still knowledgeable. That's very important especially the people with me do not know anything about the products.

I had the chance to talk to one of the managers. It amazed me how the managers listen to you. I got the chance to enter the production floor and observe and man, you would not believe it! They really take care of their people which is very important. I don't see stressed faces on the floor. Even the HR people are really sensitive to your needs. They will find time to make sure that they tend to people.

Well, I thought I heard the head of the trainer's team that the reason why they give importance to the agents, it's because they are the front liners who are income generators.

I Think I Made The Right Decision

I have been talking to my friends who are still working with my previous company since yesterday. I was wondering why they have been so quiet and all of a sudden, they have been posting sad faces on fb and frustrations. They told me that the promise of getting a retention bonus didn't push through. They signed a contract that if they will have perfect attendance for 3 consecutive months they will be getting 15k bonus. The contract was signed by the site director, the senior manager and the employees. And without any prior notice, they didn't receive anything. I don't know how I can pacify them. I can't even laugh because I know how hard they work even if one of their family members were sick, the weather is bad, there is an emergency or the employee is sick. One of the people who also resigned suggested this:

I will say the same thing but I know they need a job. I don't know how else I can comfort them especially they had issues with their pay last January 15, 2012. I don't wanna add something to aggravate the situation. So I just remain quiet.

This Is Something Good

One of the reasons why I resigned from my previous BPO company is the over time that they are requiring us to take. For almost 2 years, well, until now they keep asking employees to go on over time because they said they lack staff and it's always swamped. I stumbled on this picture on FB. I wish I had this when I was arguing with my supervisor about not taking my OT aside from being sick all the time. But anyway I shared it on my wall and on their walls.

I wish they can see the rational why we need to take a rest and they need to take of their employees. The reason why the metrics are now failing has nothing to do with the skills but of the will and the stress that the people are feeling. Make them happy and don't treat them like machines they will see the difference. Imagine even the hr sometimes don't know what they are doing and they have their own time. So when you need help nobody will take care of you. The guards who act us receptionists most of the time will just tell you "unapologetically". I am thinking though if how long will this business run. Anyway, I have seen a lot of people resigning everyday. Meaning I am not the only one and I was not the first one to leave. I gave them good money.
